James Doig conducting a choir in a Sydney church

Musicians

Funeral singer

With a deep understanding of the Catholic liturgy, James believes in singing the liturgy, rather than simply singing at it. His music flows naturally with the rhythm of prayer, complementing each moment without interrupting or prolonging the service, and bringing beauty, reverence and peace to the farewell.

Vocalist

From the timeless beauty of Gregorian chant and sacred music to Italian favourites, Ave Maria, the soaring melodies made famous by Andrea Bocelli, operatic arias and everything in between.

Organist

Sensitive organ playing that supports the liturgy and the congregation.

Pianist

Gentle piano for reflection, entrances and farewells.

String players

A solo violinist, cellist or a full string quartet.

Choirs

Small ensembles to full choirs for a deeply solemn atmosphere.

Orchestras

For a farewell of grandeur, arranged and coordinated for you.

Composer

Where time allows, an original piece to honour your loved one, bringing an individual musical touch to their farewell. Subject to availability and preparation time.

Arranger

A bespoke arrangement of a meaningful song or hymn, or suitable existing repertoire adapted for your service where practical.

Common questions

If your question is not here, please call us — there is no obligation, and James will always speak with you personally.

Can you help us choose the music?

Yes. Most families arrive with only a feeling — a hymn from childhood, a song their loved one sang in the kitchen. We listen first, then suggest music that fits the service and honours the person. Choosing the music should be a gentle part of the farewell, not another task.

What if our church has no organ or piano?

We bring our own keyboard and sound equipment, so a live singer and player are still possible in a chapel, funeral home or crematorium that has no instrument of its own.

How far in advance should we book?

As early as you like, though funerals are often arranged within days. A single phone call is usually enough to begin — even before the church, celebrant or funeral director are confirmed, we can hold the music while the other details fall into place.

Do you work with our funeral director?

Yes. We coordinate directly with your funeral director, the church or venue, and the celebrant or clergy, so timings, entrances and farewells run quietly on the day and you have one point of contact throughout.

What does live funeral music cost?

It depends on the musicians you would like — a solo voice and organist is far more affordable than a choir and strings. Tell us what you have in mind and your budget, and we will tell you honestly what is possible.

Let us take care of the music

The music should be the easiest part of organising the funeral.

Give us a call today. We will listen to what matters to you, help you find the right music for your loved one and take the stress out of organising.
